Is anyone else getting random names in their alleged ''Hot Matches''? I just found this ''new'' set: Frank Sleaford 1876 Washingborough, Lincs, England William Ticklepenny 1741 Keddington, Lincs, England Abraham Whiston They're lovely names, but I don't have any of those surnames in my tree! I'll get onto GR, but thought I'd see first if I'm the only one to whom it's happening. Christine |

One of my 'Hot matches' is '. .' In my tree, this appears as 'Unknown Unknown' This is my mother, and when I first realised she appeared in someone else's tree, we both took steps to make her unrecognisable. This was months ago. We are still linked. Someone else continually shows up as a new Hot Match because they have a Mary Edwards in their tree, which they must keep on uploading. GR ignores two distinctive middle names. I am tempted to change Mary's surname to [say] Xerxes. But it looks, on the basis of what I've just said, that the link will still remain. Could it be that those wonderful surnames disguise some Smiths or Browns? |

Oh, so could it be that those people were originally added with a different name, perhaps 'unknown unknown', and when the hot matches process was run it matched them to someone in your tree who was called 'unknown unknown' or whatever, but then the person whose tree they were in found out their names and renamed them, so that by the time you actually looked at your hot matches it showed the new names? Kate. |

Strange isn'y it,a 'cold/cool/lukewarm match gets hot responses, but a hot hot match (yes two hots) gets a cold response. I know it's been said before about non replies to tree matches etc,but just thought i'd throw it in,although off topic Glen |

I emailed GR today because one of my Hotmatch contacts is supposed to have 14 matches with me. Out of the 14 , I don't have any of the names in my tree at all! I'm slightly uncomfortable about this - I can't really say why, but I'm hoping that GR will be able to shed some light in their reply. Mind you, I emailed them on the same subject last time I had a load of Hotmatches, and they never replied to that email at all! Pat T |
