Many thanks to you all, maybe Burkes LG and LDS are both wrong. I hope so, I don't want him married to this woman unless it's a second marriage.

Sorry no idea where. Heather - I've seen that on there but I want to get the certificate. I'm afraid I don't trust that site much as I've found many mistakes on it once you start checking things out. [when family members put it on there] Elaine - I have tried ancestry but gave up, maybe it's my pc, or a lot of people are on-line or that we are dial-up. I have been waiting for ages for it to download and it was still not even a quarter of the way through. Thanks all anycase, think I'll change the heading to GRO lookup. Josie

Ancestry have the full index free at the moment. Not just freebmd. Go to ancestry home page then scroll down pass the search box and you will see England and Wales bmd index beta

I've tried freebmd with no joy. I'm looking for Francis BIRLEY who married 30 March 1847 to I think a Milicina THORNTON. I don't know where. I want to send off for the certificate to prove if he was married before.... Thanks
