Just curious to know if anyone has ever used a medium to help them with family tree research? |

Seriously - Hubby visits the spiritualist church, but no one has ever made contact with him. Years ago he took his father, who doesn't believe in that sort of thing.....HE got a message, but he couldn't make head nor tail of it!! I would like a time machine for my birthday instead. Merry |

Hi, My husband's paternal Grandparents were Spiritualists and Mediums - His Grandmother certainly became a Spiritualist Preacher. I REALLY wish they would get in contact as I have a family mystery which they could solve. Please don't think I am taking this lightly - I have an open mind about these things but would just be very grateful for their help if it were possible. Dea x |

If you want to go into this further, the General Board had a huge thread on it a few weeks back. |

i started searching for my mothers family and knew nothing of them only her mothers name. my mother visited a meduim many moons ago long before i started searching...she gave nothing to the woman about her life at all.. the lady told her that her family came from across the water she had a half brother and sister and there was twins linked with her family. she also told her that she had family in Glasgow..!!! When i found the family it turns out that they came over from Ireland during the famine and settled in Burslem in 1840. Down the generations i found twins who were born and died at birth. I have just found my mothers half sister and brother. the Glasgow family link has not been found but we know my mother was abandoned in Glasgow...just a thought but i take everything with an open mind.. |

One of the girls on the other board is studying to be a medium and a while back offered a 'reading' over MSN messenger to me after I sent her a pic of my mum. To be truthful a lot of it meant nothing at all, but the poor girl had been inundated with people sending her photos so it may be things were getting confused. But one thing (and some others) that struck home. She asked me if anyone in the family was blind. Well, strangely both my dad was blinded in one eye during an industrial accident and my grandfather was also blinded in one eye when a child. I told her yes, there were two people who were blind in one eye. She said 'I cant be right, but I am seeing a bow and arrow as the cause' (No, my ancestor wasnt Harold!) BUT my grandfather was blinded in one eye by another boy in the late 1800's who had been playing with a home made bow and arrow which went into grandads eye. |

A family member of mine went to a spiritualist meeting, and was chosen for a message. The message came from a woman in a polkadot dress, carrying a child. This child had died before the age of two, and was probably a lot younger - about six months old. This was more than twenty years ago. I have found out that this woman who had a message from 'beyond' DID have a son who died at 5 months old.... it didn't really help too much with the family research - but it did give me a jolt, and a little bit of incentive to find out more about this particular person. |

Just a thought, and I am too scared to go down this route, but maybe a Ouija Board would be more helpful in finding ancestors, as you can ask direct questions and get answers. Kathy |

Hi i went to a medium a few years ago before i really got into my family history research. However, nothing he said relates to my family. However, i have kept the piece of paper with the info written on it just in case. Besides when i said there had always supposedly been a link with Wales he mentioned names such as Dilys and Howard! |
