Hi Annie Wauchope (pronounced walk-up) is a famous local name where I live! There are streets named after the family, there was once a mansion house, which unfortunately is no more, although the family mausoleum is still standing. My children's school has a monument in it's ground's dedicated to Major General Andrew Wauchope, who lived in the mansion house, and died in the Boer war. There's loads of stuff about them if you google. best wishes Christine

Thank you very much all of you. Christine thats very interesting.I am having a bad time at the moment trying to track down my g grandmothers family.I remember her very well and her sisters but trying to find them is even harder. Her name being Smith and dad said she travelled down from Scotland when she was 14.Found a Smith family in West Ham in 1891 and 1901 from Scotland without my gran though and a Margaret had married into this name.Gran had a sister Margaret. The census 1901 only had her daughter Ellen so wondering if they lived in Scotland.Dad did not have a clue where gran was in Scotland Waiting now for grans marriage cert to see who her dad was.Annie
