Was there electoral rolls between census. 1901-1911? I am trying to find out if my Aunt and Uncle Frederick and Mary ann Moden had more children. I have the first child ,born 1899 Maude Elligett Moden Camb, i found her on the 1901 census. But as there are quite a few born of the same name in BMD between 1901 and 1909 ( this is when Frederick died ) i was hoping to find others from the address they were living at. Did they have be over 18 or 21 to be listed? If anyone has any others ways of finding them please tell. There would be to many certificate's to buy if i just took pot luck. Thanks Diane

I don't think there is. It depends on the area though. The kids won't be shown if they are under 21 for males or female before 1918 as it is who is legally able to vote in a property. My area of Plymouth goes from 1935 onwards. And they are only in the local library. The electoral roll is useless for finding new children unless they are at home most of their lives which is unlikely. Steve

You could although.... search for a will for the parents but that depends on finding their deaths. Its worth a try as it mentions family members... If you know either of those deaths i could ask someone to get a will for you... and its £5 i think. Steve

They wouldn't be electoral rolls, but when i lived in Northampton the library local studies room had a few street directories. One half was householders (alphabetical list) followed by address: the second half was arranged in streets and gave names of householders. They were not for each year, I think there was one for c1905 and another for c1911. Don't know how universal this was, or if it was just a local thing. Jay

Diane If you know where they lived, then find out what Parish it was in and check out the Baptism Registers. I have done this for all of my families. Why do people only think they can use Parish Registers pre 1837? I have accessed them for as recently as the 1960's even 1980's in some cases. If they are not in the County Record Office, they will still be at the church concerned. Some make a charge to view them, some just ask for a donation to church funds. I have seen my own childrens baptisms in the register. 1984 and 1987. You just need to ask. If you cant go yourself, then they should offer look ups for a small charge. Margaret

I do know a bit about this family. They lived and run a puplic house for years 16 / 17 Market street cambridgeshire, the pub was called THE ANGEL The father John Moden run it first then after his death his wife Esther took over along with my uncle Frederick J Moden. He then died aged 44 in 1909. Mary Ann his wife is my blood line. They had only one child in the 1901 census Maude Ellligett Moden (Elligett was my aunts maiden name) I dont know if Mary Ann remarried after Fredericks death. I looked for years on 1837 to see if i could find a marrage for Maude but no luck. I need to find other children to give me some more leads. As for a will the only will that there could be is of Frederick's mother Esther Moden she died in 1922 aged 80. I would like to add that John Moden was also a town counciler in 1881 let me know your thoughts please Regards Diane. x PS sorry about the spelling
