Hi Received an e mail from 1837 online offering unlimited access to BMD for a year for £50. It doesn't cover the census etc and I'm a subscriber to Ancestry anyway but I'm tempted. What do you think? Debby |

Well, we have been told ancestry will have the full bmd index next week - see Zoes thread on here - press release. Which is probably why we have had a flurry of offers from 1837 recently! Ive bumped the thread up for you. |

Ah that explains it Heather - I'll stick with Ancestry then - thanks very much - you've just saved me 50 quid! Debby |

I was just tempted by the same offer. I'm very glad I read this message first and will wait to hear from Ancestry! Rachael |

I've just been offered the 1837 deal again as I would like to bring our tree forwards beyond what Ancestry currently have, we were considering it, but would rather find somewhere local if possible. Anyone know if Ancestry are going to update their bmd records? or if there are places in West Cornwall where the microfilms can be viewed? Jon and Suzie |

I have not used 1837 for a while so is it any better than Ancestry BMD BETA? http://www.ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx |

Don't bother,Debby.I fell for it a while ago, when Ancestry were just trialing their beta indexes. There are too many limits on it,you can only do 300 look ups in a month (which can be used up pretty quickly if you have a name that gets spelt many different ways, and they don't all appear on the same page) Also, you are not allowed to do 3rd party look ups either, even if they are for a family member!!! I hope Ancestry don't remove their beta index now!!! |

Thanks very much, you've just saved us £50. Is the BETA site free? Strange that it doesn't direct you there from Ancestry. |
