Sorry to butt in ... but it sounds odd to me ... are you sure you've read it right (or that it has been transcribed right?)? Good luck, Jane |

I think the name of the building is Disturnal Buildings. Apparently there was a Richard Disturnal who was a coachbuilder in the area, according to Google. Kath. x |

I 'Googled' and there was a similar question on another Gen site. 'Shaw's Leasow in Walsall became Shaw Street' Chris |

What exactly do you mean when you say 'Ii have an address that I am try to find' Do you want to locate the proprty in a census? Are you trying to acertain the modern day location? Are you trying to find it on an old map? Are you trying to work out what it really says? I can see the name on the 1881 census and have also read the description of the enumeration district. Is this what you need? Pete |

If you go to this site:- http://www.walsall.gov.uk/census81.pdf you will see that both Shaw's Leasow and Disturnal Buildings are both mentioned on fiche 131 Kath. x |

The original census books have a description of the enumeration district they cover. This varies from 'the entire village of A' to 'All of B Street, the north side of C Street, including D Row.....etc' Usually the latter description will include part of at least one identifiable major road, though that may have changed name in the succeeding decades. It is always worth finding this description. I believe that Ancestry does hold these images, but they are not in same place that you would find them if you looked at the records in microform. If you look at the page numbering, you will realise that the books contain a good many pages besides the actual schedules of households. |
