Hi, According to most of the census records, Walcot Bath, also he enlisted in the Army there as well, though one census which escapes me his place of birth is shown as Larkhill Somerset. His father, on two of the marriage certificates is shown as a blacksmith, and as the 1851 one census shows that George as a smiths errand boy, as well as being around the right age I hoped I might be lucky. If someone got married in 1860 in say Army would there still be a record in the normal way? Thanks for all you help it is appreciated. Adrian |

There /is/ a Henry Payne living in Bath. He is 45 - a portrait painter. His wife is Mary, aged 30. However, there are no children living with them. There are no George's in Walcot. |

Hi I checked the Somerset 1841. Walcott: Henry Payne - 45 - portrait painter mary Payne - 30 both born out of this county, no children with them. There is another Henry Payne in walcott but wife Eliza. There are plenty of George Payne's age of 6 in Somerset. Where was your George born? Suzanne |

Thanks for you assistance, I am at a bit of a brickwall !! Is the 1841 complete out of interest? The 1851 was the best entry I had for my GG Grandfather prior to 1861, where I definately know the entry is correct. I know he comes from the Walcot / Bath area from his Army discharge papers in 1874. I know ( hopefully ) that his fathers name was Henry from two of his three marriage certificates. His first in 1860 I cannot locate - he was in the army at the time. On the two later certificates Henry is shown as deceased. Any thoughts on where to go from here ? Regards Adrian |

The only George I can find, with sister Ann, is the son of George and Mary. |

Hi, Sorry for the delay - had to pop out !! Trying to locate my GGG grandfather a Henry Payne believed to be dead on the 1851 census. On 1851 census I think have his wife Mary Payne widow aged 50, poss my GG Grandfather George aged 16 and a two daughters / sisters Ann 11 and Amelia 7. they are residing at St Anns Court Walcot Bath. I am hoping that the 1841 may show a Henry Payne as the husband of the above which would be great - if not I will have to keep on looking !! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Adrian |
