....how do you find a reference to order the film from the FHS - assuming that they have it, of course? Or even figure out where copies would be kept locally? The area I am looking for covers West Street, Westney, Tower Hamlets (in particular 44 West Street). Two children had that address on their marriage certificates of 1859 and 1863. By 1871 the remaining family are down the street at 111 West Street - that is listed as Mile End Old Town, District of St. Peters. |

Why are you saying the area is 'missing' - have you looked for these people on Ancestry or 1837online 1861 census indexes? If not why not post their names and someone will probably be able to find the reference. |

Hi Judith. I have had others search for me on Ancestry and I have looked myself on 1837 - but no joy. This is the family from 1851-- 44 West Street, Stepney HO1071553 John Darlison Age 40 Weaver (was born in Ireland) Charlotte Age 38 Weaver B Berks John Age 16 Weaver (transcribed as 10) Elizabeth Age 15 Weaver Thomas Age 13 Quilt Boy Charlotte Age 9 Ann Age 7 Richard Age 4 Jonas/Jonah age 1 (transcribed as Sarah) Son John was born Battersea; the rest of the children were born Bethnal Green. There was another daughter Jane - born in 1851 - she is the one still at home in 1871. Have tried the most common mis-spelling DARLINSON as well. Margaret |

Bit cheeky, but why dont you email towerhamlets office. They actually looked up an 1841 census for me 2 years back when I asked them how I could find my rellie. I didnt even ask them to do it! Later I wrote and asked about a school one of mine had worked at - back came the governors report for the school in 1900. Have a go if all else fails. |

Heather, you're not going to believe this but even the Tower Hamlets Library doesn't have a copy for that area!! (my cousin has already checked in person) Wonder if the Library and Town Office only share one set of records?!! Worth finding out. |

Rose, that's great. I know she didn't marry until 1868; by that time she was living down the road at 111 West St. Do your records show who she was staying with? Margaret |

Thanks Rose -- was hoping she was with family, but those names don't ring a bell. Margaret |
