Thanks Suzanne, that's really helpful. It's complicated when there are two people of the same name born around the same time! Emily

Georgina, Thanks, that does look like her! That was so quick as well! I have also found her and her son in the 1881 census now, with the help of your 1871 census record. However, I can't find her husband in the 1881 census. Was there an occupation listed for Lucy or her husband in the 1871 census record? In 1881 Lucy is listed as a Saleswoman. Thanks, Emily

I've looked for marriages for her, but I haven't been able to find her in 1881 census using any of the surnames of potential husbands. I found a possible death for her in 1874 in Lambeth. So I think she'd still be unmarried in London in 1871. Can you help? Thanks, Emily

Had she married by 1881 or was she still Lucy Baker? Georgina.

Can someone help by looking up Lucy BAKER in the 1871 census for me? She was born c.1843 in Witheridge, Devon (near Tiverton). She was living with her father John Baker and step-mother Elizabeth in Devon in the 1851 census. She was in London in the 1861 census: Name Relationship Condition Sex Age Occupation, Where Born -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SINGER, I M Head Unmarried M 49 Inventor America BAKER, Lucy Adopted Daughter Unmarried F 17 Tiverton Devon STILES, Marsha Companion Unmarried F 16 Stepney Middlesex Address: 10 , Grove End Road, St John's Wood, London Registration district: Marylebone Ref: RG09/90/71/55/21 If you could help me find her in the 1871 census it would be great, as I haven't been able to find her in the 1881 and would like to know what happened to her after 1861. Thanks, Emily
