Once you get back beyond the first useful census 1841 and civil registration 1837, you need to go to the relevant records office and check parish registers and other information such as local censuses, lists, rates books, settlement papers etc etc. Very little information is online, though you can find some baptisms/marriages on www.familysearch.org You might also find that there is a local family history society that has indexes of baptisms, marriages and burials. You could have a look on www.familyhistoryonline*com (replace * with .) and check the counties you want to see if they have any of the databases you are interested in. You can then buy some credits to search onsite. nell

Sorry that was a bit unclear!!! I am mainly tying to go a bit further back! I have my great great grandfather called Herbert Beedles b1873, he married his cousin who was also a Beedles called Henrietta b1874. i know that Herberts father was called Cornelius Beedles b 25 feb 1840, he married Jane Williams b1839. Cornelius father was called Evan Beedles born in 1807, he married Mary Davies b1807. Evans father was called Edward Beedles (i have no info on him) he married a Mary Pugh b1872. hope this is clearer!!! thanks

I have managed to trace my Grandfathers family quite far back these were called Beedles and from Montgomery, His name is Harry Beedles, his father Henry, his father Herbert Beedles married his first cousin who was called Henrietta Beedles, His father was called Cornelius Beedles born 25 feb 1940, married to a Jane Williams. i know their children (i think) and know that his father was called Evan Beedles born 25th oct 1807 in Berriew he married a Mary Davies. then i think his mother was a Mary Pugh 1782 and his father Edward Beedles. but have no more info than that, and to be honest not even 100% that the later ones are!! Thanks for your advise and keep it coming!!! Carly...

First tip ... it's better to keep discussions on the board - at least in the first instance - then people can see what advice is being asked/offered. If it's all done by private message, no one knows what's going on. The more people know what's going on the better.
