Kathleen, I didn't want you to waste credits, when it can be done for nothing! (If you have Ancestry anyway! lol Pat

Thanks for your offer Pat. I seemed to be blocked with the fact that I have no spouse to double check. But if you would still like to check, I would appreciate it.

Pat, I think I must be daft. I've only just worked out how to find recent bmd's on Ancestry and I've been using the site for a couple of years. Tried finding my son's marriage and up it popped. It's never too late to learn, is it? Kath. x

If you want to give her name in a pm (for the sake of privacy), I'll have a look on 1837online. Kath. x

I'm thinking that I may be headed to the (not so local) family centre - a lot cheaper, and keeps me busy for a while. I'll see if there are any other options before I head out into the weather.

For marriages of that date you will need to check on 1837online, which is pay per view, and as you don't know when or where the marriage took place, it might be costly to check. You could always check the marriage index at a large library or Family History Centre, which would only cost you time. Kath. x

My great grandfather had 6 brothers and sisters; I am one of his 31 great grandchildren. Between the other 6, there is only one great grandchild. I would really like to get in touch with her to let her know we are out there. I have tried contacting everyone on this site with her name or her father's and mother's name - no luck as yet. Because she was born in 1969 she probably is married, so the task increases. My next plan was to check marriages from about 1989 on and see if I got any matches ( is Ancestry the best site to do this?) Any suggestions as to where else I can check? Thanks. (I'm also putting this on the 'General board' as I know not everyone visits both)
