As they are both listed as 16 they are too old for civil registration. You would probably need to find their baptisms and even then it might not be clear what the situation was (esp if they were not twins but were baptised together!) My step-dau has two boys born 10½ months apart, so they might by singletons who are the same age in years! Merry

Ah, hang on.............. If you were to find them in 1841 (Ancestry should have this by Easter) then you might get yourself an answer, if your very lucky....... The 1851 census was taken at the end of March. The 1841 census was taken on 7th June. I think it would be very difficult for these two children to be listed as both 16 in 1851 and both 6, or both 7, in 1841 unless they were twins. So, if they are both the same age in 1841 you have twins. If they were different ages then they were singletons! Merry

Thank you , This just seems to better all the time. WE knew john (1833) had 1 or 2 brothers or sisters, and that his father was called john, but this was unexpected when i looked back , but all of you have helped even more. A big thank you to all of you Helen
