Could some kind soul have a go at reading the following occcupation. RG11/2369 folio 47 page 11 William Critchard son in law 39. Occupation.... P????? Ancestry have it as Pensioner...At 39???? He is missing in the '61 and '71. In the '91 he is a Domestic Servant, Gardener and 1901 he is shown as a Labourer in a Flock? Mill. Thanks Chris |

I think it does say Pensioner. Maybe he had been in the army? This would explain him being missing from the earlier censuses. I looked on the National Archives website, but there's no record of army papers on their main index :O(( ''Flock'' would refer to left over wool products. Flock was used to make stuffing for things such as quilted fabrics and such.....another one is Flock Paper......the sort that is used to make the type of wallaper often seen in the traditional Indian Restaurant!! Merry Thanks...I hadn't thought of the Army, as you say it may explain his absence for the two censuses, and thanks for looking at the NA. Remembering some Indian Restaurants from my past William could well have produced the wallpaper himself :)) Thanks again Chris |

I think it's pensioner too: the P at the start is the same as the P in Parrott. |

Pauline I think the first letter is deffinetly a 'P' if it is compared with the capital P for the Perrott surname. But I also thought it might have been a 'C' to begin with. Many thanks for looking Chris |
