JIm. no disrespect, we have hunted for this man extensively for what seems like forever! If you can find him, you are a better man than those that have tried....and tried...and tried....and tried!! Jess x off the top of my head- cos i remeber it so well the 1881 - the last trace of edwin- who was a baker Edwin Rodds abt 1859 Islington Head 54 Alexandra St, Kettering, Northamptonshire, England Frederick Rodds abt 1881 Leicestershire, England Son 54 Alexandra St, Kettering, Northamptonshire, England Lucy Hardman Rodds abt 1860 Morsley Birmingham Wife 54 Alexandra St, Kettering, Northamptonshire, England 1891 ref Source information: RG12/2402 Registration district: Aston Sub registration district: Deritend ED, institution, or vessel: 5 Folio: 84 Page: 4 (click to see others on page) GSU Number: 6097512 His mother continues to rotate round leicester upto 1901 and Lucy flits off , presumably via wales, where she turns up in back in BHam with this welsh baker, who it transpires is a relation anyway- although i cannot remember the relationhip - it was complicated!

These are the only things I can think of, that might have happened to Edwin: 1) He left the country after 1881 2) He died after 1881 but his death reg didn't find it's way to the GRO indexes (doesn't explain why Lucy didn't marry Frederick Jones, though, so I think this idea is the least likely) 3) He is in an asylum or hospital in the later censuses and his place of birth is not known - there are several people called E R who could be him. Again though no death in the GRO indexes up to 1920, so he would have had to have been locked away for a long time........One of mine was in an asylum for over 60 years though, so it could happen. 4) He took a different name and is on the census but we don't recognise him. He has already had two surnames.... Rodds and Rose (I seem to remember)......so is quite possible, esp if he left Lucy under some sort of ''unusual'' circumstances. Can't think of any more at the mo..... Merry
