Does anyone know if the 1891 or 1871 censuses (not sure that is the right plural!) for Sussex are available online? Or does anyone have access to them who might have time to look for me? I have found my great-grandfather Alfred Blanche on the 1901 census aged 25 living with an Alfred and Sophia Gladwish (aged 54 and 60 respectively) and their son James aged 17 at Underhill in Northiam. I also found him aged 5 on the 1881 census living with a Sophia Blanche (widow aged 60) who I suspect may be the same Sophia that I found on the 1901 census. At this time he has siblings Ellen aged 12, Albert aged 9 and Edgar aged 2. These siblings have disappeared by 1901. Here their address is Cherry Garden, Beckley, Sussex. I'd really like to find out who Sophia's first husband was and hopefully her maiden name, but am stuck as I can't find her in 1871. It would also be interesting to find out what happened to the missing siblings - the 1891 census might hold the key? If anyone can help it would be really appreciated as I have ground to a halt on this line of investigation at the moment. Thank you.
