At the time of the Domesday Book the Manor of West Derby was mentioned, but Liverpool, Thingwall, Garston and Crosby's were not. Though there is evidence that they existed very soon after the survey was made, These last Manors belonged to the successive lords of the Manor of West Derby for three or four hundred years. There was a castle at West Derby where the school is, as Michael Caine would say 'Not Many People Know That ' |

Moe. This research is for a freind of mine . Her son registerd the death as she died at his house in Liverpool .in 1915 . Her son was adopted out and was living in Yorkshire on the 1891 but returned to Liverpool by 1901 but Lucy was not with him in 1891 .I can,t find any lucy that matches on any of the census except these 1881 and 1901 Cath |

Moe , This a bit of a tricky one as the name of the parents are not known . All i know is that her name was Lucy Shaw . She is in the Walton Workhouse 1881 aged 36 born Liverpool .Yet on her death cert 1915 she wasage 80 . Since she was in Walton workhouse which is under W Derby and born in Liverpool .i was trying to find her on the census but not sure which district to try under .to give me a lead . . Cath |

Cath, nowdays its only a part of Liverpool but i think the further you go back the bigger part it plays, if you are looking for someone always try both along with toxteth Park for searching, Can i help? ..MOE! |
