I have Just been Googling for a person on my family tree and i was directed to a wonderful web site Surrey advertiser on line this is brilliant for any body researching surrey you might be lucky enough to find some thing related to you and find a photo or two as they have many but if you dont it it still worth a look .. I was looking at the yesterdayyear part of the site its was wonderful to see pictures with stories not only relating to my families but to others and to areas you know they would have know and to see and read things that they would have talked about . My 'Favourites' is packed with the general national and international genealogy sites so a couple of days ago I started a Word doc into which I copied a useful specialised link from the Boards. I've just re-opened it to add the Surrey Advertiser link, (thanks 'Raining' I've also got possible ancestors in Cranleigh). Anyhoo the first link I had put in there now shows as a hyper-link, though it hadn't when I first put it in. I copied and pasted the Surrey Ad web address with the ** in place of stops, replaced the ** with stops and pressed 'Enter' to move the cursor down one line and immediately the Surrey Ad, showed up as a hyperlink. To cut a long story short I clicked the link and naturally it opened a new webpage at the webpage in question - obvious really when you think about it. The point is this, if like me, you don't like to clog yr Favourites list with all these 'potentially useful' websites not directly linked with Gen websearches you can store them by the hundred in Word doc.s categorised by type and available at a click of yr mouse!.....J. |
