Don't think anyone can help me with this tried before, but just need someone to tell me iam doing something wrong some were. My grt grandad John Thomas Shenton, have him on 1871=81-91-01 censuses. His death in 1939 aged 74 his marridge 1886 aged 21 but no birth no baptisam no registration.I have his father Enoch's family in Shelton Hanley back to 1841, can't find a marridge for sister Hannah but brother William i have found, he had a son Thomas in 1865, but no it's not my John Thomas i have him on 1871 census as well. Trying to find mothers family, got Elizabeth marridge to Enoch in 1863 in Bucknall cum Bagnall. Have first marridge to James Smith in 1851, but can't find her on 1861. May have her on 1851 but because there is no dad on it i can't prove it's the right one. Have dads name from marridge certs it's Robert Taylor. Someone tell me to give up and forget it Please. Gill |

Thanks Tracy it could be but on both marridge cert gives fathers name as Robert, but to be honest i can't find a Robert on any of the census returns. On the one i have for 1851 it say mother Mary is a widow but she has a i month old daughter, so in theary he should have been alive in 1841 |

I have found that one, it's just that half the family are missing and it doesn't solve my problems with Elizabeth, but i do appreciate all your trouble Tracy, thankyou so much. Gill |
