I have found what I believe might be my gg grandmothers marriage on free bmd. The problem is that when you check the other people on that GRO ref there are two women & one man. Is there anyway to check (other than buying the certificate) to find out who the missing man is? I have double checked ancestry.co.uk & that definately gives the same info. I then checked 1837.com with my ggrandfathers name & there was no match there. If anyone can help her name was Marion Chambers, mar 1888 Kesington 1a 201. The man I am hoping it will be is James McFarquhar. Many Thanks Dawn

If there is no James McFarquhar on 1837 in the relevant quarter, then it looks like he is not the missing male. Although, his is an easy name to misspell. Have you checked variations? Liz x

Looked on IGI for you. No marriage found all the James are born in Scotland and most of the Marion Chambers except for one born Derby to George and Selina. Her dob and christening details are on IGI. Regards Irene

This is how i would search on Ancestry; In the BMD searchbox enter james marriages march 1888 1a kensington There are 31 james in that quarter. Not yours i'm afraid.

Thanks for all your help. I am starting to wonder if they ever got married! I got the information from my g grandmas birth cert. She was born in Aug 1894 in St Pancras to James and Marion McFarquhar (nee Chambers). From this i have tried to work backwards & find their marriage but no joy. There was a birth for a Marian Chambers on free bmd for Sept 1872 in Holborn, and I have found the same Marian on the 1881 census, but I don't know how to check if it is my Marion McFarquhar without finding their marriage. Have also looked on scotlandspeople website for their marriage (just incase) but no matches there either.
