Not really sure what you are getting at. Do you mean you have (or haven't) found them an the 1881 census, the IGI or the pedigree resource file? Or somewhere else? Can you explain it a bit please? Liz x |

I think you are tryingto say you haven't found them all ... you have only found 2 out of apossible five. The parents may have moved and registered the other children in a different parish. They MAY have registered the first Boy .. first Girl only. There are a lot of mistranscriptions on LDS .... try searching under various spellings of the name. Elaine :-) |

Margaret, If you look at the bottom of the page at sources, does it say extraction from parish records, or has it been submitted by LDS member? Jay |

Yes Elaine that is what I meant but it seems that it is the 2 middle children that are on there and I know they did not move and I know that is where the eldest was born or perhaps they just did not get put on thank you Margaret |

Might the eldest child have been baptised in parish of one of the sets of grandparents? Jay |

Is it possible that the parents' names have been mistranscribed for the other children? I have one rellie whose mother is on the IGI as Mary when she was actually Margaret. If I had searched for the children of 'Thomas and Margaret' I wouldn't have found him. |

Here are my theories. If its from a transcription of the parish records perhaps they aren't complete. Perhaps the church hadn't been built when the first child was born. Perhaps the family were friendly or related to the vicar and had the children baptised wherever he was. Perhaps if you post the full details of their names, parents, birth years etc. we can shed some light on what may have happened. |

Hi Margaret I've found this too, have searched the parish registers and haven't found baptisms for the other children who only appear on the census records. I have one family who had several children before getting any of them baptised and then their baptisms were in no particular order with the eldest two being baptised last. Heather |

Margaret There's always the chance the others surname could have been mistranscribed. Have you entered the batch number only without a surname? Can take a while to trawl through the pages but it's worth a shot Elly |
