I don't wish to be awkward, but doesn't including birth family and siblings in your tree in the hope of attracting their attention contravene GR's policy on including living individuals without permission? Its just that if for any reason they find themselves in your tree they might object to having their details displayed in that way, especially if they or their family do not know of their history. Also if you know who the adoptions (Social Services/Adoption Agency) went through then write to them and leave your details that you'd like contact. Think there's another adoption register on Lookupuk com think its called adoption match. Also don't forget to look on friendsreunited for the mother's name as boys especially don't tend to look for their birth parents but might look on that site just out of interest. |

Hi, Before you register have you advertised on some of the free sites that are available see below, I am not so sure on paying out so much out for the register as I remember reading the results of finding adoptess on these and Norcap included it was very low, but I guess anything is worth a try. Place adds on these first I note that you have Andrews name on the TTF board but he does not seem to be in your tree, place all your siblings details in your tree also your birth parents that way if he does a name search on this site, your details wil come up and he will be able to contact you. I have also sent you PM rgarding the social services current stance on helping people trace birth families. Good Luck with your search. None of my birth family had heard of the register before I told them about it. Birth father and his youngest daughter (also Liz lol) had tried to find me over the years but did not know about this register. Good luck to you, Liz x |

Hi Liz ... and Jess x Have been to the site ( VERY familiar !!!) ..... and have read up on the details etc. Yep, £30 for each person I want to register against. Seems that I can't look at the page that explains 'evidence' you need to send with an application .... so I may go back at a later date and get the info required. Wish I could have afforded it back in the days it was only £20 ... now I have the dilemna of not wanting to choose which brother I try and find. I'll have to wait until I can afford the £120 in one go. It's sad really, ..... the adoptee's may think no one cares about them enough to look.... or no one knows about them. Its wrong ... the register should be FREE, then any further communication's should be charged for after that. Oh well .... another job for a rainy day. Elaine ;-) |

Anyone know the current price, to have your name placed on the Adoption register, if your trying to locate family that was adopted out. Last I heard, if I remember correctly, it was about £20 to have your name placed at the side of the adopted person ( but it's 15 -20 years since I enquired )... so if the adopted person checked the 'register', they would see who was looking for them. Does this system still operate and if so, what's the current price please ? Elaine :-) I'm here, there and everywhere today, so I may not reply to answer's straight away. |
