I have been trying to find my aunt in the 1901 census. Her name was Ada Dorothy Page (sometimes known as Doll). She was born in 1900 in London when my grandparents werent married. My Grandmother was working as a Laundry Maid in a hospital in London on the night of the census and I cannot find her daughter anywhere. She isnt with her grandparents. Although one of my g grandmothers did have a year old baby with her but he is listed as Joseph. My aunt was re registered with her fathers name later but that wasnt until 1948. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful. Thanks Maria |

Hello Page was my grandmothers maiden name. My grandfathers name was Nye nee Harris as he changed his name in 1899/1900. She was registered as Page. Thanks for the help |

Thanks Bernice, Yes that is her birth, it is just so frustrating that I cannot find her in the census. I have tried all sorts of combinations but just keep coming up with a blank. I know my grandparents brought her up although they didnt marry until 1908. Granddad was serving in the Army for 12 years and most of that was spent in India. Thanks again Maria |

Thank you Lady, I had seen that one but dismissed it as I thought that a baby of 9 or 10 months wouldn't have a birth year of 1898c. She was definitely born in 1900. My only thought now is that the little boy Joseph who was down as a boarder with my g g grandmother may actually be my aunt. He was born in the same year and in the same area as my Aunt. I know it seems unbelievable but then so are many other things. What does anyone else think or am I barking up the wrong tree again! |

if you are considering that little Joseph is your aunt, why not check for his birth details. If you find him then obviously he can't be your aunt. If you can't find him - hey presto! Claire |

Maria, 5 Ada Page turn up on name search, that fit in age,,,what is making you dismiss one of these the birth place?????Ada may not have gone to the grandparents till older,,,,, Have you checked any of the above to see if she is down as a Boarder/Niece. Thats how I found one of ours,I was put off by the birth place not down where born.. The information on a census is only as acurate as the person giving it,,,,she maybe is there but her birth place different.from what you excpect it to be,,, kay. |
