My husband has just discovered he has a half brother, but how do we find him? All we know is he was born 1959 in Derbyshire, we do not know his first name. His mother was Janet Wheeldon (nee Blood) born 1942 and her husband Mr Wheeldon (first name unknown). Do not know what year they were married, but they must of been married somewhere in Derbyshire. They separtated and the child stayed with his father. Janet met someone else and my husband was born but he was then adopted. Any advise where to start, please help us. Thanks |

Have looked at the births on 1837online for 1959. This is the only birth of a Wheeldon with the correct maiden name for the mother:- Maurice W. Wheeldon, mother's maiden name Blood March qtr. 1959, Lichfield, 9b, 352 Lichfield registration district is actually in Staffordshire and not Derbyshire. Kath. x |

Lichfield is sort of nearish Debyshire though - Staffordshire borders with Derbyshire around that area. Liz x |

This is the parents marriage reference:- Janet L. Blood to William A. Wheeldon Dec. qtr. 1958, Ashbourne, 3a, 18 Ashbourne is in Derbyshire You can use the above two references to buy the birth and marriage certificates. Hope this helps. Kath. x |

Hi Debbie 1837online is best for searching for births, marriages and deaths, as it is complete up to 2003 but it is pay per view. You can buy credits from £5 upover. For before 1901, then Ancestry is best and you can buy subscriptions for either 3 months or a year. If you look on your homepage on GenesReunited you will find lots of tips about getting started. It occurs to me that this brother may not know anything of his younger half brother, may even have been told that his mother had died rather than leaving him so please tread carefully if you decide to approach him. |

No need to worry there Judith, if any contact is to be made it be through Social Services first. My husband has waited over 40 years so time is something we have. |
