Having exhausted myself trying to trace ancestors from my mothers side I have now decided to have a rest from that branch and research my fathers family. His name was Matthew Dunlop Keir, dob - 8th Feb 1919 he was born in Killen, Stirling, Scotland. Think he came to Liverpool and settled here during the war. He married my mum in abt 1948, although he had been married before when and were (?). What's the first step and the best site to use? |

If you think his first marriage might have been in Scotland, then the best place to look would be on www.Scotlandspeople.gov.uk which is a pay per view site, although if you ask for a look-up on here, someone might have a few spare credits to look for you. I haver looked on 1837online for the marriage of your parents. I have checked 1947, 1948 and 1949 and not found it. Kath. x |

I'd be interested to hear if you come across a Jessie Keir in your research 23.3.1926 born Scotland. I understand her father to have been called (something) King Kier. I believe her middle name (Jessie's) was Dickson although am not absolutley cetain of that. Jess x |

Hi Janet If he was born in 1919 his birth won't be on Scotlands People but you should be able to order a copy from the Records Office in Edinburgh and it will give you both his parents and the date of their marriage. Marriages only go up to 1929 so even if he married in Scotland it won't be on either. If someone was going to the records office in Edinburgh they might have a look for you. Do you have any idea of his parent's names. Margaret |
