Are you sure about the first word spelling? Faemina ?? ignata = not ignited (I guess that's what you were hoping for??), but ignorant I think? sepulta = burial (all right with that then!) Merry - Very happy to be corrected as I failed my Latin O level lol

Yes, positive about the spelling, its very clearly written. The 'ae' in Faemina is the greek ae, in other words the a and the are stuck together. How disappointing! I thought I'd stumbled on a witch-burning, but as I am obviously ignoranta myself (also failed Latin O level) and am possessed of a very vivd imagination.... Why did the silly man write this in Latin? He was quite happy to write 'Burial of a stranger' on other occasions. Deflated Olde Crone

Speaking as one who passed her Latin O-level (although admittedly on the second attempt), I can't remember a bloody word of it. Shame really, I thought maybe she was a Hindu and had been cremated! Tina
