Well, if you look on freebmd, these are the possible births: Remember that freebmd is not fully transcribed so these may or may not be your guy. To order a certificate go to the GRO website and complete the details as shown here and pay £7online. Dec 1849 ASPINALL James Bolton 21 137 ASPINALL James *hal_ 22 127 ASPINALL James Bolton 21 165 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Mar 1850 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aspinall James Bolton 21 145 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you know when/who he married? Then you could buy the certificate for £7 and see who his father is and trace back that way. It is quite possible they both died and thats why he is with his uncle. Or if you decide the James in Bolton above is the likely one send for his birth certificate to get mum and dads names. You could then check them out and see whether there is any death records for them, buy their certificates and see how they died. You could also look for their marriage and see their fathers names and so on backwards. When you get prior to registration in 1837 you have to check parish records. If you are new to all this, it would be worth you reading the newbies information on this board or on the homepage. It would also be worth you taking a sub for ancestry which is only £55 for a year at the moment for 24/7 access to all the census 1861-1901 plus hopefully 1851 anytime now. If you want to buy a census, just google genealogy supplies for a list and the prices. Personally I would spend the money on an ancestry sub and wait for the 1851 to come up indexed already for you. |
