Not sure if this is the same bank as The Central Bank of London at 52 Cornhill (can't think there were two with the same name??) If it is, then that one was taken over by the Birmingham and Midland Bank in 1891. That bank is now the HSBC (Midland Bank with the yellow griffin if you are old enough to remember!!) Merry |

Probably!! From my experience of working in a bank, old ledgers don't tend to survive the ravages of time too well!! I once had to go and find some pre-WW2 records in the bank where I worked. This involved a ladder and a torch and trying to put my phobia about spiders out of my head......forget spiders, when I found the ledger, I opened it and all the pages had been eaten by long-dead maggots!!!!!!!! Ugh! All that was left was the leather covers and a few bits of sawdust-like chewed paper! Do you already have a date for the bankruptcy? Merry |

Just a thought - if there was bankrupcy - doesn't this involve some form of court hearings? But don't know which type of court. May also be sometning in a newspaper Anne |
