Can someone refresh my memory please! If I check a baptism in the Parish records for c1818, will the father's occupation be listed? I have looked at lots in the past but can't remember, I have a feeling occupation is shown? Thanks Sam x |

Yes , father's occupation and the street or area of the town too on the ones I've seen. Heather |

Thanks Heather, I had a feeling it was but wasn't 100% certain! I need to check a baptism for a child who has a pretty common name and the occupation of her father. if it is recorded, could help me decide whether I have the right one or not. Sam x |

Depends on what the Vicar at the time wanted to include. Clive from Warks. |

Sam I have ones with father's occupation for that date for 2 in Acton Trussell and 1 in Penkridge. On the latter it was written in the margin that the children were twins. One for Gayton earlier(1808) only gives names. You could be lucky. Hilary |

From 1 January 1813, there is a special little box in C of E baptism registers to enter occupation. Some vicars use unhelpful descriptions - like artisan for anyone who isn't a labourer - but that box should be filled in. |
