More help needed please - on ancestry I have two Mary Ann's married in 1872. On the 1837 it only gives spouses name.. with previous searches for other people I have found both names listed. Would someone explain this to me I have done four searches on 1837 and am still not sure who married who.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.... The spouses surname on 1837online (and on the GRO indexes) haven't always been shown: September quarter 1837 to December quarter 1911 -- only first two full forenames, subsequent initials, registration district and ref number March quarter 1912 to September quarter 1962 -- if female was previously married, index shows maiden name and married name March quarter 1912 to present day -- surname of spouse added The only way I can see to find out who someone married in 1872 is to search for the 'possible' husbands on the 1881 census and see ifthe wife fits your lady.
