Just wondered if anyone has come across these and how easy they are to access? Anna

Yes, I have, and I accessed mine through the LDS. They are the most fantastic records I have ever seen! Not a lot went on in the Moravian Church, so the Pastor filled in his time by making extensive and beautifully written records. Baptisms give the child's parents, including the maiden name of the mother, when they married, often an actual address and sometimes the names of the Grandparents too! They also give the child's position in the family e.g. 'Fifth child, but two having died' If/when someone died who had been baptised in the Moravians, he helpfully went back to the baptism, drew an ornate cross against the original entry, gave the date of death and usually the cause too. Marriages give extensive details about both sides - occupations, addresses, and in one case he listed all the children of both sets of parents. Sadly, none of MY rellies were Moravians, but these records are little jewels for somebody out there! Olde Crone

Thanks for the tip Olde Crone. Have just had a peep at the LDS Catalog but find that they don't have the church I'm interested in, listed. Thanks anyway. Anna

Nana Anna Then you will probably find them in the relevant County Records Office, under RG4, of course. The two I found on the LDS - I have misled you slightly here, sorry. They were not ACTUALLY listed by Church, but I found them under Lancashire Methodist Records Miscellaneous!!!(Not knowing they were going to be on that film, if you see what I mean?) Olde Crone
