Hi, could someone tell me how this works. Is it the same as 1837 or Ancestry? |

Neither! Ancestry gives you brilliant census info back to 1861 plus lots of other bits and peices, like Pallots marriages. 1837online you use to find a ref basically so you can send off for a certificate, bmd. But you need to have a rough idea of the date otherwise you could spend a fortune trawling for your guys. familyrelatives has a brilliant transcribed section for the period 1866-1920 (1837-65 supposed to be online anytime) and you can enter the name area date or any combination and bring up all the matches for births marriages and deaths. I used just a surname of my lot (unusual name) and using just 18 units I got the whole lot of births, deaths and marriages in the London area from 1866-1920. That would have cost gawd knows on 1837. |

I agree with Heather. The data from 1866 to 1920 is brilliant. Another good feature is that from about 1910 to 1920 the birth records also give you the mother's maiden name. That helps you to work out which children belonged to who. Outside the 1866 to 1920 period the records are not indexed and I haven't found them to be much use at all. |

Cant remember about 50 for a fiver? Dont know as they have offers on now and then with a lot of freebies. Best thing is to have a look at their website and that will tell you all you need. Have to say sometimes the site can be a pain in the butt as they havent been going that long and seem to get a lot of time out messages etc. But I found if you write and whine a bit you get extra credits for your inconvenience. |
