In thinking the least I can do is respond to others who e-mail me about possible links to each other's trees? It's so great to hear back from somebody you've contacted even if it's apparent there's no connectin. A brief 'Sorry...don't think so...Good luck with your search' doesn't take long to send.

I always reply - either to those who initiate contact with me or those that reply to me with a 'sorry not connected'. I agree it does not take long to write a quick message. I just wish others would follow suit.

Well, Helen, I am inclined to agree with you. After all, politeness costs nothing. However, I do have to add that when one only has a few people on one's tree it is much easier to achieve this that it is for someone with 1000 or more people, so I try to be charitable. I try.......I don't always succeed! Tina

Hi Helen, I agree, a quick note saying 'sorry not my family' would be better than not hearing anything and being left wondering. Having said that there are peoples trees on this site that have been here years and some of those people have not renewed their membership, changed their e-mail addresses and forgot to change it with Genes so they don't get notices telling them they have a message. I'm sure there are other reasons for people not replying also. I get very excited at the replys I do get and keep my fingers crossed that they are part of my family tree. What else can you do. Fiona.
