I need help! I cannot find a rellie in 1871/81. His name is John Thomas RAMSEY, and he was born in 1864 in Westminster. I have found him living with his wife, two sons and mother in law in 1891. His parents are Thomas RAMSEY and Alice NEIL. I have found them on 1871 and 1881 - both were bron in Ireland around 1830. He was a police officer. They also have 3 sons living with them, but not John Thomas. I have looked for John Thomas but am really struggling. Can anyone help me, please? Cheers Debbie

Debbie, Are you sure the John Ramsey you found in 1891 is the same one? I can't find one born in the Westminster area in 1891 or 1901. There's one born in Bethnal Green with 2 sons and a mother in law but Bethnal Green isn't near Westminster. Are you sure he didn't die? Name: Ramsey, John Thomas Record Type: Deaths Quarter: December Year: 1865 District: Westminster St Margaret County: London Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 226 Crista

Crista I know the birthplace is wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is him in 1891, as everything else ties up (wife's m-in-law's details) Plus, I have a death cert for him for 1900. On the plus side, I have just found his parents in 1861, as visitors to another Irish couple.

Debbie - as you seem to be going forwards, are you as far as 1901 with this man yet? as Christa says i am not convinced that the man that died in 1900 is your man. It is so easy to work from 1861 forward and go wrong - who do you start with in 1901 to go back that you know for certain is yours, without a shadow of a doubt? I cant find the Bethnal green one even! jess x
