I'm trying to find the birth of Edward Humphrys, his father was Mark Humphrys, information I have from census records is that he was born in Axbridge, Somerset probable the early part of 1837. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might obtain copies of the Parish Records covering this period and location, unfortunately I live in Nottinghamshire so at the moment I'm not able to travel record offices in the Somerset area. (I also have Radstock and Wellow as possible birth places).

Go to the LDS site, click on 'Library Catalogue'. This should take you to a search page. Click 'Search by placename'. Enter Axbridge and this will then show you what records the LDS holds for this area, including any filmed Parish Registers. Then find your nearest LDS Family History Centre (also on the LDS site). You can go there and order Films of the Parish Register you are interested in (about 2.70 per film) and you can view them at the LDS centre for a month - or longer, if you wish. There is no charge for the use of their facilities. Hope this helps. Olde Crone

I hate to say this, but any IGI entry that has 'Birth - about...' is just somebody's guesswork and isn't really any help. Try Family History Online for Somerset, it has quite a lot. Kate.
