CAN YOU GET ADOPTION RECORDS AFTER DEATH???

IS IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN ADOPTION RECORDS FOR MY MOTHER AS SHE HAS PASSED AWAY 12 YEARS AGO , ADOPTION WAS IN SCOTLAND

This is something you will need to contact Social Services in Scotland about,their laws on adoption are pretty much the same as England,where only the ''adopted person'''or authorities can apply for information on records... Kay,

In England and Wales you can get the adoption records if the person has passed away and you are the next of kin, I don't know if Scotland is the same.

My friend's daughter would be interested to know who to approach about this.Her father died nearly 20 years ago, when she was 12. She was an only child and knows that her father was adopted as a baby by a North Wales couple and raised there as an only child. He was actually born in Liverpool. The adoptive parents have both died and their only grandaughter lives in West Midlands. Her mother, my friend, is supportive of her quest for information. In which area should she start her search?
