what district??

Hi does anyone know what district Hoe Benham Berkshire comes under please thanking you Margaret

These are all the registration districts in Berkshire:- Abingdon Basingstoke Bradfield Cookham Easthampstead Faringdon Henley Hungerford Maidenhead Newbury Oxford Reading Wallingford Wantage Windsor Witney Wokingham I can't find it in any of these districts, so maybe it was on the border with another county in the past. I'm not much good at geography, so don't know which other counties to look at. Kath. x

If you google it it comes up as being near Newbury in Berkshire.

Thank you for your replies on the 1901 census it say Hoe Benham Berkshire but Irene perhaps it meant Beenham Thank you Margaret

According to the berkshire history website Hoe Benham is near A4 outside Newbury. If you google the name within inverted commas you get quite a few websites. Karen

Hoe Benham is about a mile north of the A4 halfway between Newbury and Hungerford. It's very close to the boundary of Newbury and Hungerford districts but I can't tell which one it's actually in. All under West Berkshire now

Hoe Benham doesn't show up at all in any of the lists of places in any of the registration districts for Berkshire. Kath. x
