http://content(.)ancestry(.)com/iexec/Default(.)aspx?htx=List&dbid=7814&ti=0&o_iid=19959&o_lid=19959&o_it=19959 I hope the link works. I just got sent an e-mail saying 1901 access is free for the month of September. Only problem is you can't actually see the original census record. However, if you have a name and want to determine who else was in the household at the time of the census this will help you. Enter the name, click on the one you are interested in and then click on show other members of the family. You will get a list of everyone in the household, their ages, and their relationship. I knew my gr grandfather was a guest/visitor at his married sister's house in 1901 so used it as a test and sure enough it gave me the members of the household and indicated he was a visitor. I hope some members might find this of assistance. I have had a lot of help from the members on this board at various times so hopefully this will help others. Penny |

Thanks for that - I've had a go but unfortunately it won't show me Josephine Norman age 40 born Ireland living in Burnley. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. |

I know she's on 1901 and wondered if she was the sister of my Anne Andrews nee Norman who was 42 born Ireland on the 1901 census. Know she's with the Sisters of Mercy but whether she's a Nun or a servant or an inmate if its that sort of institution. Was hoping to find out where she originated from in Ireland to give me a chance of finding out where Annie came from too. As I had no credits left for 1901 I haven't checked but thought as I saw your post that I'd try Ancestry but surprised not to find her there. |

Thanks Richard So it looks like she's no relation - that's a pity as I thought I might try the Sisters of Mercy to see if they knew where Josephine was from in Ireland. So back to the drawing board with my Annie Norman - she just seems to have beamed in in 1901 living with husband James Andrews and baby son James in Burnley and beamed out again never to be heard of before or since. A real pain in the neck. |
