Hi everyone, I've managed to trace the year that two of my ancestors were married in scotland. The information was from an extract of a birth register for one of their children. It states that their marriage was in 1863 on the Island of Harris in Scotland. I've tried to search for it (on scotlands people website) on or around that year, but it doesnt appear anywhere. Does anyone have any clues that might help?? The full details are: Kenneth Campbell Marion Mcleod Married 1863 in HARRIS (invernesshire). Any help would be appreciated. regards, Tony Campbell

Have to admit I know little about Scottish records BUT On the birth record who told the marriage details to the registrar? I guess it would be the happy parents - but did they tell the truth? Just a thought. Anne

As you're dealing with very common names for the locality, I used http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb. com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyInverness.htm#H (remove the line-break) I didn't find the marriage, but... JOHN CAMPBELL - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 12 AUG 1865 Harris, Inverness, Scotland Father: KENNETH CAMPBELL Mother: MARION MC LEOD Batch No.: Dates: Source Call No.: Type: Printout Call No.: Type: C111111 1855 - 1867 6035516 REGISTER Film NONE I couldn't see (using the batch number) that there were any more siblings in that batch.
