1891 census marital status - 'P' any ideas? So con

Thanks Crista! Just been searching on ancestry and found her listed in 1861, (don't know how I missed it before!) but can't find her or any of the rest of them in 1871. Please could you let me have the details? thank you! |

Does anyone know what P under marital status means? The 1891 census for Batsford was written by someone with very distinctive handwriting and the P is very different from what I assume is an 'S' for single and 'M' for married. Also there is an M written and then crossed out and P written instead. This woman is 32 and listed as a daughter but does not appear on 1881 or 1861 census. To confuse matters even more she is called Rose Bartlett and my father is convinced that his great grandma was called Rose Onion but this Rose is his grandma Emily's sister and so the daughter of his great grandma who, according to all the info I have found so far was also called Emily. I've probably confused you all completely, would be delighted with any help or suggestions anyone can offer. Thank you in anticipation!! |
