To add to this concerning the abbreviations of Birthplaces;I use GR as a Site to build my Tree,but following the new set up,when I export my File from GR,and then use it to update my Webpage,it still exports the abbreviations.I have complained to GR about this,but have received no reply as yet. Well said, Dea!! I've been wondering about all those bits of place names. Surely Genes must realise that if a box appears you choose from it? Thats what computers do .....isn't it???? Anne

I have noticed recently that when you look at the new names added recently - MANY of them have annoying abbreviations in the place of birth details. e.g. Sto or Manc. HOW do people expect to find a link with others if they don't put in understandable details?????????? However, I have just added lots of new names and when I went to have a look I found that one of MINE said - place of birth Sto !!!!!!!!!! (I really wanted to say Stockport) I have now realised that in this 'new and better system' - if you start to type the place a 'very helpful' little box drops down and you can choose the place you want - It then, very helpfully and efficiently (OR SO YOU THINK!!) fills in the county and town details for you!!!! WELL, - what REALLY happens is that ALL IT PUTS ON THE NEW NAMES LIST IS THE FEW LETTERS YOU TYPED !!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN TELL I AM ANNOYED - I NOW HAVE TO RE-DO ALL THE ENTRIES I HAVE MADE SO THAT THEY MAKE SENSE - AT THE MOMENT THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NO USE TO ANYONE !!WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT !!!!!!!!!!!! IT HAD BETTER WORK, THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY !! Anyway, please take note and don't fall into the same trap - type in the full word if you want your details to be of any use. Dea x
