Hello, I am seeking information on how to access newspaper archives. An ancestor of my husband was the Post Master General of Newcastle upon Tyne. When he died his funeral was a rather grand affair which was covered by the press. I have had no luck in finding any more information. I am unsure of his date of death - his name was John George DONNELLY. Has anyone any ideas, particularly people from the North East. Any help appreciated. Thanks Lesley |

Old newspaper runs are usually at records offices/libraries on microfilm. Libraries will probably send a photocopy of the relevant article for the cost of copying and postage - you can get an idea of when the funeral was from the death cert - people were usually buried within a week or so. nell |
