Hi Wendy If your looking in the Yorkshire area try http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk It's not fully transcribed yet but births seem to go as far forward as 1951. Otherwise you can search the GRO Indexes for free at Hull library or East Yorkshire County Records in Beverley Jeanette x |

In place of census info, you can check addresses on the electoral rolls/street directories, though this will only have adults eligible to vote. Sadly these aren't online; you have to go to the relevant records office/library/local history centre. nell |

What kind of records are you after? If it birth marriage death, freeBMD goes upto about 1910. After this the only sites that you can usually use are pay-as-you view. Some counties have BMD sites that go upto the present date (although they are not complete) but you don't say which county/area you are interested in. Otherwise you can search the GRO indexes for free at a Records Office. Sam x |
