Hi Elaine, My husband bought me 3 FH mags for my birthday last month. Ancestors has an article re 'Silk Workers'. In this it mentions Courtaulds and crepe weaving. The largest mill was near Halstead which was bought in 1825 and produced crepe for 30 years. If you google Halstead Silk Mill you might get some more info. Regards Jeanie |

Hi Elaine, found this Courtauld specialized in crape, a hard, stiff silk, which was used for mourning clothing. Production was increased after Courtauld developed a new silk spindle in 1814 So I take it , it was a weaver in the silk industry. Christine |
