ok, I put in the disc - I've got 2 places I can put a disc, and get the same response from each .... pop-up appears .... blue header says '16 bit windows subsystem' then in the box it says C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM 32\AUTOEXEC(.)NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application. Choices are 'close' and 'ignore' both of which remove the pop-up, but nothing else happens. Obviously, I am completely dim about computers so can anyone help me please!! Maz. XX |

The software is to old to run on XP or NT and has got some files missing. Solution? The easiest is simply inserting the Windows XP CD into the CD drive and clicking start --> Run and entering: expand X:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt Replace X:\ with your CD ROM drive letter. Thank you for the reply Carol. As I said, I am totally clueless lol!! Puter was ex's thing (he works with 'em) but he is overseas at the moment. Cannot see XP disc in the drawer - although there are lots of discs lol - and even if I did, not sure which 'letter' corresponds to which 'slot' on my tower!! Told you I was dim!! Think I will have to wait for him to get back to uk - 3 weeks time :-(( Thanks anyway Carol - sorry to be such a dumbo!! Maz. XX |
