Hi Just a thought if you can't find a relative on 1901 he may have been serving in the Boar War,I have been looking for three brothers i have them on 1891 but unable to find them on 1901,till the other day when an Uncle remarked how all three were at the relief of Ladysmith in the Boar War and how all three in different regiments met up at Ladysmith not knowing each other was there,so all along they had been out of the country,so i thought how many others we are searching for were serving abroard when the census was done.

I was given info about my great grandfather being in the boer war. I then went to the National Archives at Kew and with the help of gc friends and the staff there I found the original Service records. So obtained my photocopies and can now envisage what my Gt Grandfather looked like. The National Archives is full of information and is well worth a visit. If you can get there, do not hesitate, go. If you need help then put a thread on here and we shall be there to help you. Fi
