I have an Amelia Constance E Banst in my Tree. She is the only Banst on the Site, and, according to Taliesin Arlein there was no-one of that Surname living in England or Wales in 2002. As she married my 2nd cousin 4 times removed in India about 1872 I was wondering if anyone could give me a hint as to her possible nationality?

I checked the name Banst against immigration records to see where they originated. The majority are of Saxon-German extraction. Hope that helps. Rose

Thank you ladies, I had a suspicion that it may well be a central European name.

I had better start looking for Immigration lists from Germany to India. Tried Googling, but most of the sites which offer info, as soon as you click on them you are invited to pay for a year's membership at prices beyond my means.
