I suspect my great grandfather would have been buried in Nottingham Road Cemetery, Derby, in the 1930s or possibly later. It's massive I know so what's the best way to find out if he's there? Thank-you

If you find out when he died you can then write to the Cemeteries Dept of your local council. Here in Stoke on Trent they will then write back with details of the grave/plot number and also send a map of the cemetery so you can locate the grave. Ours won't search the burial register though, you have to tell them exactly when they died/were buried so you will probably need to get his death cert first to find the date of death. Sam x

You could ring the cemetery and see if they have indexes: Nottingham Road Cemetery 01332 672761 http://www.dfhs.org.uk/searches/dfhsnott.htm This is the derbyshire family history soc that does searches for a fee. nell

Helen, thank-you for the phone numbers, I'll put them on file. Do't tell me that, as well as all the other coincidences, we also have Derby ancestors in common?? Gary, thanks for the offer, I'll email you. Helen
