Can anyone help find George Hooker on 1871 census please? I have found his wife, Elizabeth and two children living in Portland Road Croydon, Surrey with George’s brother Henry. In 1881 George, Elizabeth and both children are living in Cirencester Street, London. George would be aged 29 in 1871 and he was born in Norwood (Croydon). If anyone can help find him, I will be truly grateful. Wendy |

Thanks everyone. I have him on all census' from 1851 to 1891 except 1871! I can't think why he would be in a lunatic asylum in 1871, but I suppose it is possible! His eldest child William was born in Peasmarsh, Sussex in 1864 and on the birth cert. George is described as 'Domestic Servant - Coachman'. Their daughter Elizabeth was born in Kilburn, Middx. in 1871. In 1881 George is described as 'omnibus conductor'. Thanks for all your help - I guess he will have to remain elusive for the time being.
