Best place to buy census discs?

Where's the best (cheapest, lol) place to buy census discs? I only need Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire at the min.

You've (sadly) just missed a brief special offer at ArchiveCDBooks - although they may not have the particular ones you want, anyway - you'd have to look. Have you tried the local Family History Societies (or whatever name they have chosen to go under)? I'd try Genuki or Google to find the local FHSs to see what they have. They may even have some of the info onlline! Christine

Hi Rebekah The 1841 census for Warwickshire is being transcribed and is on Pickards Pink Pages. The 1851 transcription cd is available from LDS it also has Devon and Norfolk and only costs £5-£6. Heather

all depends which censuses you want. There aren't that many where you've actually got a choice of publisher. Remember most of the discs aren't name-indexed, just scanned images (and on the other hand, those discs that are transcriptions don't give you the images) However, £30 for a quarter on the wonderful Ancestry site (GR's rivals now) will get you both counties for 5 censuses 1861-1901, both scans AND full indexes And if you'd like scanned images for 1881 for your files, Ancestry is the only place you can get them

Nottinghamshire Family History Society (NFHS) have all census with indexes, they even have the 1881 images, they also sell transcripts of baptism, marriages and burials. The did used to seel the complete index of the 1841 but i think that is bundled with the 1841 images. Archive cd books have better quality census than anyone else. It's a shame you just missed there half price offer. Steve.
